Pinterest is the 3rd most popular social networking site on the web these days … and the importance of Pinterest is amplified in an industry like ours that is so visual in nature. Are you reaping the benefits of Pinterest? Are YOU being PINNED?

Earlier this week I introduced a new member resource: The Pinterest Tips & Resources Page. Here’s a tip I’ll be adding to that list. It’s a quick way to see if YOU are being PINNED!

So, for example, our Guest Adviser in August has been Janna Werner. (I’m sad that August is almost over! She’s shared SO much valuable info, advice & encouragement to all of us on the Ask Janna Forum!) Janna’s website URL is www.jannawerner.de.
So to see what people are pinning from Janna’s site, go to http://www.pinterest.com/source/jannawerner.de
What You Can Learn
Sure, it’s fun to check out …. But it’s a great RESOURCE too!
Find out WHAT people are pinning from your site. You’ll be surprised to see that it’s not always the things YOU think are most pin-worthy! It’s also an interesting study to read their comments — what reminders are they giving themselves about your resources? What endorsements are they giving to their followers? Which of your images have been re-pinned most? Take note of your most-pinned & repinned images and look for commonalities between them. What “best practices” from your OWN images and blog posts should you focus on mimicking in the future?
Stay tuned. We’ll have more Pinterest Tips for you! Members are invited to check out Pinterest Tips & Resources Page regularly!

I can’t get that to work and would love to see…not sure what I’m doing wrong but Pinterest gives me their 404 error message when I type in my page.
Lisa – I found it! Here you go: http://pinterest.com/source/lisaspiegel.typepad.com/
I’m getting the same error message. I’ve tried it several different ways with no luck. Can you help?

I just found this out last night! I was surprised to see what had been pinned from my blog! It’s really interesting to see what work stands out to others.
The thing with this, it doesnt actually show every item thats pinned….when I use the link it shows only a few items but I know from my stat counter that there is load more pinned, as Ive followed the hits from Pinterest.
True – There are limitations with this free little trick. There are paid services that larger companies use to find out & track this info and provide complete data, but it’s kind of cost prohibitive at our level.
But this free trick if you check it occasionally, can help give you an idea of what’s being pinned, what the comments are, who is repinning, etc
